Collection: What About Her x mvdrl
This earthy collection of limited velvet bands, ring belts and bag straps is a result of a collaboration between creator Marijke of the brand mvdrl and storyteller Laura of the travel blog What About Her. We've combined our kindred passion for traveling, culture, vintage, embroidery ánd sustainable fashion and created this limited collection for all free spirits out there.
Marijke spent some severe time in India and fell in love with its culture, art and crafts. She found a bunch of vintage sari borders at a local market and decided to take them home and continuing chasing her dreams: mvdrl was born! Now she turns them into multiwear items using upcycled fast fashion fabrics, working closely with locals and always striving to zero waste & giving back!
You will find her where the wild things are... Laura is a bohemian traveler, writer and visual storyteller and founder of What About Her & The Boho Guide. She handpicked nine vintage hand embroidered saree borders and named them after her travel memoirs; places that inspired her. She just had to write little stories with it, because that is what she does. This collection is a little homage to her life journey.
This limited collection is created out of used and consciously sourced materials only. Every border has been hand embroidered along the edges of a sari – that means every piece is one of a kind and there is only a max. of 8 meters to be found in this world.
You always design your own border – colour combination. By having you involved in the process of designing your own item – we hope it creates value and directly contributes to emotional durability ánd product longevity.
After designing and ordering, your piece will be handmade by Marijke and wrapped up in a giftbag from upcycled saris, handmade by the women of NGO The Blue House Project in Pushkar. 100% of the profit is given to the woman who made the bag, so with each sale you contribute to a brighter future for this underprivileged families.
